Songs from the Piano Bench

From 12:00PM to 2:00PM

Stop by the first floor of the NYS Museum to listen in while enjoying your lunch or lend your voice as singers perform a variety of songs, including popular folk, rock-and-roll, Victorian parlor, Civil War, Sesame Street, and more. Many selections are chosen from the more than 35,000 pieces of sheet music in the New York State Library collection. Music and lyrics are provided and instrumentalists are welcome.

Native Critters

Native Critters is one of the topics for the Children’s Summer Programs at Herkimer Home. The Utica Zoomobile will bring critters that could have been found on our site years ago! The program is free and open to the public. This special visit been sponsored by Herkimer Home State Historic Site/Natural Heritage Trust.

At 2pm, interpretive staff will tell animal myths, and children can make a Native American craft. There is a $1 fee per child to support children’s programming.
